This vintage souvenir travel shield charm is for Lucerne, Switzerland. It features Bertel Thorvaldsen's famous carving of a dying lion (the Lion Monument, or Löwendenkmal) over the stripes of the Municipal Coat of Arms. The monument is located in a small park just off Lowenplatz. The carving commemorates the hundreds of Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when the mob stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris. This charm would be perfect for any personal, souvenir, travel, Europe or Swiss themed charm bracelet.

This charm is made of enamel and European silver, rather than sterling, and is marked with 800.
