A choice, Castellani quality, signed Gold & Micro Mosaic Brooch dating to the 19th Century. The antique Mosaic Brooch despicts a colorfully dressed Peasant Girl with a basket of fruit, resting on a large rock with trees in the distance and blue sky above. The Gold frame is also exceptional, wide with various raised designs and a drop at the bottom. May have had a hair locket on its reverse originally. The antique Micro Mosaic Brooch is of the highest quality and measures 1 3/4" x 1 3/4". The frame has the original C Clasp and is hallmarked in three locations: once on the C clasp and twice on its pin (unable to make out the marks). The Mosaic is in magnificent condition with the exception of a small loss of Mosaics at the 9 o'clock position. Note the the Brooch is enlarged in the photos----shows very well in the photos, though even more beautiful in person.
