A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Yogiw and I'm addicted to collecting. Ever since I was little, I've loved to collect. From jewelry to fabric to dollhouse miniatures to blown glass to pop culture.

At yogiw's A Genuine Find, I sell mostly charms. I frequent the antique malls in the area as well as flea markets and all-vintage collectible shows, finding jewelry and treasures I can't live without.

I love vintage enameled flower charms...

 

...and it took me 5 years to collect all 12 "Birthday Flower" charms by the Thomas L. Mott Company (TLM), England.

 

Welcome Spring with my "English Shields of Nature" bracelet I just finished. The Atlantic Lobster at the end was the finishing touch!

 

I can't stop with enameled flower and nature charms — I love Victorian, early 20th century and 1940s puffy hearts too.

 

I support our major league baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds. Check out the clever toggle closure I made from a charm that was way too big to balance anywhere else.

 

The bat was so long, I didn't know what to do with it since it overpowered the bracelet. Driving home from work one day, it hit me over the head — like a baseball bat! Make a toggle out of the bat with a baseball charm on the same jump ring. I think it's super cute!

 

Another passion of mine is vintage U.S. travel charms and "places I've been" charms. One of my life goals is to visit every National Park in the United States.

 

TWEAK OF THE WEEK: Since I started using No-Solder "Magic" Jump Rings, I haven't lost one charm! I'm so into them, I now offer them for sale in my eBay store. They come in 4 different sizes, in both sterling silver and gold-filled — a must-have for any charm collector.

 

I don't pretend to be an expert telling you the ins and outs of charm collecting; but, I am a charm fanatic. I even volunteer as one of the moderators for the Vintage Charms and Charm Bracelets chat group on eBay. My only word of advice: buy what you like! It doesn't matter if it's old or new or gold or silver or plated or solid or tarnished or shiny. If you like it then go for it!

WHY YOGIW?

My younger sister and I were the only kids left at home after our older sisters went away to college. She called me Yogi and I called her Boo Boo. Soon, everyone was calling us by our new nicknames. Now, over 30 years later, I'm still Yogi but added the "W" for eBay.
